林语堂英译《兰亭集序》
“永和九年，岁在癸丑，暮春之初，会于会稽山阴之兰亭，修禊事也。“
“This is the ninth year of Yungho (AD353) Kueichou in cycle. We met in
late spring at the Or-chid Pavilion in Shanyin to celebrate the Water Festi-val.'
今天引述的第一段是晋代书圣王羲之的名篇《兰亭集序》，第二段是一代语文大师林语堂博士的英译。
一连谈了三部西征的地道英语对白，今天换一换口味，与各位研究一下汉英翻译。
我在拙著《漫谈银幕英语》自序的最后一段是这样说的：“很希望这本小书，能提高你对研习中英文兴趣。“

林语堂博士以英文写作，独步欧美文坛，其实他的中文造脂也是非常精湛的，要不然又怎么能把中国的古文英译，介绍到西方国家呢？“
林
氏名篇《怎样把英文学好》与《英文学习法》，已先后在拙栏引述，引起很大的反响。但林氏笔下的英文，相信青年读者十之八九都未拜读过。这几天我们就一起观赏林语堂博士跌宕昭彰的英文好吗？
林语堂博士的英文译笔。
现在我希望各位背诵这篇《兰亭集序》的第二段，赏析中国古典文学之美，然后研习林语堂博士的英译，且看林氏是如何初中中语入文之法的：
“群贤毕至，少长咸集。此地有崇山峻岭，茂林修竹。又有清流激湍，映带左右，引以为流觞曲水,列坐其次。虽无丝竹管弦之盛，一觞一咏，亦足以畅叙幽情。是日也，天朗气清，惠风和畅；仰观宇宙之大，俯察品类之盛，所以游目骋怀，足以极视听之娱，信可乐也。“
'All the scholar friends are gathered. and there is a goodly mixture of
old and young. In the back-ground lie high peaks and deep forests. while
a clear, gurgling brook catches the light to the right and to the left.
We then arrenge ourselves, sitting on its bank, drinking in succession
form the goblet as it floats down the stream .No music is provided, but
with drinking and with song, our hearts are gay and at ease. It is a clear
spring day with a mild ,caress-ing breeze, The vast universe, throbbing
with life, lies spread before us ,entertaining the eye and pleas-ing the
spinit and all the senses, It is pe
rfect.'

书圣名篇 大师妙译
本文继续介绍书圣王羲之的名篇《兰亭集序》，希望大家都能反复熟诵 ，然后细心学习语言大师林语堂博士的英译。这对提高中英水平都会大有裨益：

Some en-joy a quiet conversation indoors and others paly about outdoors,
occupied with what they love. The forms of anouement differ according to
temperaments ,but when each has found what he wants, he is happy and never
feels old, Then as time passes on and one is tired of his pursuits, it
seems that what fascinated him not so long ago has become a mere memory.
What a thought! Besides ,whether individually we live a long life or not
, we all return to nothingness. The ancient regarded death as the great
question . Is it not sad to think of it ?'
提高研习中英文的兴趣
本文介绍王羲之《兰亭集序》的最后一段，希望各位继续反复熟诵，同时细心研习林语堂博士的英译。
“每览昔人兴感之由，若合一契，未尝不临文嗟悼，不能喻之于怀。固短一死生为虚诞，齐彭殇为妄作；后之视今，亦犹今之视昔，悲夫。故列叙时人，录其所述，录势殊事异，所以兴怀，其致一起。后之览者，亦将有感于斯文.'
'I often thought that the people of the past lived and felt exactly as
we of today.Whenever I read their writing.I felt this way and was seized
with its pathos . It is cool comfort to say that life and death are different
phases of the same thing and that a long span of life or a short one does
not matter. Alas! The people of the furture will look upon us as we look
up-on those who have gone before us. Hence I have recorded here those present
and what they said. Ages may pass and times may change,but the human sen-timents
will be the same; I know that future readen who set their eyes upon these
words will be affected in the same way.'

谈《夺面双雄》的小说写法
Overwhelmed with frief, Sean Archer awoke from his dream, the same weird-assde

由40年代到80年代，好莱坞将古典文学名著与畅销流行小说改编拍成电影，数量之多，不胜枚举。
近年情况有所变化，不少作家把最新卖座电影与著名电视连续剧本改编成小说，本文引述的Face/off（《夺面双雄》），即为其中之一。该片由Mike
Werb 与Michael Colleary联合编剧，而名作家Clark Carlton 则根据剧本的情节，写成一厚达299页的长篇小说。
美国编剧家谈《夺面双雄》
《夺面双雄》(Face/off)的剧本，由好莱坞Mike Werb 与Michael Colleary两位编剧合作编写，从构思情节到拍成电影，历时七载，比吴宇森(John
Woo)勇走赴美国影城还早两年。剧情波澜起伏、变化匪夷所思，反映出两大编剧一丝不苟的创作精神。
上文介绍了名作家Clark Carlton根据电影剧本改编成小说，并引述了两段给读者观赏。

吴宇森 周润发 尊特拉华达
前文介绍了《夺面双雄》(Face/Off)的精彩独白，看预告片时目睹尊特拉华达(John Travol-ta)与尼古拉斯基治(Nicolas
Cage )执枪对峙的场面，还以为吴宇森把在香港拍摄的由周润发与李修贤合演的《喋血双雄》搬到好莱坞重新再拍。后来看到资料，才知剧本出自两名编剧Mike
Werb 与Michael Colleary的手笔。
吴宇森在香港时喜欢用周润发主演他拍的戏。他先请周与梁朝伟合演《辣手神探》，再让他与李修贤合演《喋血双雄》，两部电影都非常卖座。
吴宇森也将这种双生制搬到好莱坞。他在美国则喜欢用尊特拉华达。尊先与基斯顿史利达俣演《断箭行动》，再与尼古拉斯基治合演《夺面双雄》，同样一部比一部卖座。
现在先介绍饰演桑恩的尊特拉华达与饰演卡罗的尼古拉斯基治执枪对峙时的紧张对白：
桑恩：Give up,Castor, your time is up, （投降吧，卡罗，你法网难逃了。）
卡罗：Then hit me ,Sean, because you only get one bullet left.（那就向我开枪吧，桑恩，你只剩下一颗子弹了。）
桑恩：So do you.（你也一样。）卡罗：Wow!（是嘛！）
双雄对话见机锋
《夺面双雄》(Face/Off)的剧本，确实峰回路转，妙着迭出。
故事讲述桑恩（尊特拉华达饰演）这名嫉恶如仇的联邦密探，专责打击恐怖活动，其六岁的儿子惨遭十恶不赦的卡罗（尼古拉斯基治饰演）杀害，丧子之痛更令桑恩矢志将卡罗逮捕。两人狭路相逢、握枪对峙时的对白写得颇见机锋，现在继续提供给各位研习：
卡罗：We have something in common.（我们倒有共同之处。）We both know our guns.（我们都枪法如神。）
桑恩:What we don'thave in common is that I don't care if I live and you do
.（我们不同之处就是我已置生死于度处，可你却不想死。）
卡罗：Sean.that hurts.（桑恩，你这番话刺伤了我。）You're not having fun,are you?（你活得不开心，是吗？）Come
with us.（加入我们的组织吧。）Try terrorism-for hire. We'll blow shit up . It's fun!（试一试做专业恐怖分子，用炸弹炸个天翻地覆。蛮开心的哟！）
桑恩：Shut up!（闭嘴！）
卡罗：Watch you ....mouth!（你....说话小心点！）
（按：这句话有一个很粗鄙的字，笔者希望大家学的是地道英语，而不是地痞英语，故此宁可失真，亦要删去。）
